Stars* Stalactites and Surprises!

Summertime Fun in the Valley
From the depths of caverns that are hundreds of millions of years old, to the heights of stars on stage and in the sky, Shenandoah County tantalizes the mind, the senses and the spirits with family friendly offerings.
Sample overnight ITINERARY
Tour Shenandoah Caverns, part of the family of attractions that includes the Yellow Barn and American Celebration on Parade. See beautiful rock formations, called stalactites. Marvel at the nation's premier parade float exhibition, where you will see spectacular floats from famous national celebrations, such as the Rose Parade, and presidential inaugurals. The Yellow Barn offers visitors a whimsical look at our agricultural heritage and rural life, with historical displays that include restored antique farm wagons, equipment, carriages and vehicles. Let the children enjoy nature with a look at the live animal mini-farm and an indoor, under glass, beehive.
Later on, settle back and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival. "Eight years before there was Wolf Trap Farm Park, people came to Orkney Springs to hear music under the stars," gushed the Washington Post. Whether you're watching the stars in the beautiful clear sky above this vest pocket village (population 50) or the award winning stars on stage, you will experience music in its most spectacular outdoor setting. Enjoy some dessert at the ice cream socials held each concert night. Tour the former Orkney Springs Hotel, now part of the Shrine Mont Camp and Conference Center. A restored resort hotel from the late 19th century, this national historic landmark is open for self-guided tours on concert evenings.
Tickets for the Music Festival's 2009 season, its 47th, will go on sale May 4th. For more information or to purchase on-line go to www.musicfest.org or call (540) 459-3396.
